Art Nouveau Shelf Handmade by Artist Eric Dufour in the 1990s
Huge and eccentric shelf made in the 1990’s by Eric Dufour. Inspired by the Art Nouveau movement, which emphasizes on fluidity and organic shapes, the Quebec artist and industrial designer also experimented with casting and foundry processes. Dufour hand sculpted and assembled every parts of this captivating creation, presenting a new take anthropomorphic shapes on floral patterns.
The shelf encompasses plywood, MDF, fibreglass, as well as iInflated and sculpted urethane foam. Coloured pigments were added to the polyester resin before its catalysis rather than painted for a more durable finish.
