Willow 1 chair by Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh for Cassina. Originally designed in 1904, the throne-like chair was relaunched by Cassina in 1973. The Italian manufacturer re-edited the masterpiece according to the model Mackintosh donated in 1904 to the “Willow Tea Room” in his native city, Glasgow.

The tall, semicircular and dramatic backrest of this solid wood throne acts as a partition between the entrance and the tea room beyond. It framed the seat with an intricate arrangement of lines and shapes, embodying the geometric and floral aesthetic characteristic of Mackintosh.

This chair is believed to be a 80's. Seat conceals storage compartment, with stamped manufacturer's mark to underside of seat ‘Cassina Charles Rennie Mackintosh No. 1117. New suede-like cushion. The chair has normal wear with age (nicks, dings, scratches).
